January 1, 2015
REALLY????? 2015? When did that happen? Time seems to pass so quickly. Too quickly!!
I was reminded how quickly when my grand daughter Savannah said to me today, "Gramma J you are 56 and you're not even dead yet. You don't even have white hair". Well, I'm NOT dead, and I didn't correct her on the "white" hair thing. I'll let her go ahead and believe that one.
This new year brings with it changes for me and Billy. We live in Utah now. I work at a hospital in Payson and we rented a condo in Springville while we decide where we want to buy a house and settle. There is, for me, always an element of fear with any major change while I question if I have done the right thing. So far I like my new job: It's quiet, low key, small hospital, less workload, but be that as it may there is a lot to learn before I am totally comfortable in the acute care setting. It is definitely a change from the job I left in Idaho.
It has been said,
Change is the only constant in our lives.
Change is often perceived as a negative thing, but as with anything else, attitude has a lot to do with our perception.
I do believe as we get older change can be a little more fearful since "time" feels more limited. If I were 30 years younger starting a new venture or career may feel less risky, whereas at 56 I ask myself, "What the heck am I doing?" I have to say though, despite the constant reminder from the "Grands" that I am a little old woman with white hair who is surprisingly still alive, I feel young and vital. If I didn't know how old I was I would tell people I was thirty-five.
I think I'll stay 35 forever.
I look forward to the changes and challenges 2015 will bring.
Life is good.
I am blessed.
Happy New Year to all!
